Cambridge Career Connections
(CCC) For Students and Youth
CCC is a Resource Centre for students and youth in the Cambridge and North Dumfries area. The “one stop shop” for youth and employers is equipped with job banks, computer workstations, fax and photocopier services, Internet access, community resource information, as well as an array of employment, training and career development resources. This initiative is a partnership between Cambridge Career Connections, John Howard Society and Service Canada.

Job Connect
This program is targeted at Cambridge youth between the ages of 16 and 24 and consists of two components, namely Information and Referral Services and Employment Planning and Preparation. Information and Referral Services provides youth with access to information on careers and occupations, the local job market, training opportunities and job search strategies. Youth are offered assistance with resume writing, job search techniques and career planning. Referrals to training and educational programs, as well as other community resources are provided through this service. Employment Planning and Preparation provides youth with an opportunity to clarify their employment needs, establish short and long term goals, develop action plans and prepare for employment. Youth can access some of the following services through this component, to include assessment, individualized career planning and goal setting, employment workshops, job shadowing, volunteer and on-the-job training opportunities.

Employment and Training Programs
A number of federal youth employment and training programs are offered through Cambridge Career Connections. Project based initiatives such as Youth Service-Canada; Youth Internship and Youth Entrepreneurship programs are offered on a regular basis. ACCESS is a work transition program for young people who require additional initial support to be successful at work.

Summer Job Service
This program is for Cambridge youth between the ages 15 and 24 who are currently attending school and plan to return to school in the fall. Summer Job Services is designed to help eligible youth prepare for employment, gain employment experience and stay in school. Employers participating in the program receive a wage subsidy.

Housing Registry
This Housing Registry helps youth & adults to secure appropriate and affordable accommodation within the Cambridge area. Youth are able to access an up to date listing of housing options that are suitable to their needs and income. Referrals to other community agencies are made as needed.

A.C.C.E.S.S.
ACCESS (Assisted Career Coaching Through Employment Support Services) is a unique school to work transition program for youth with barriers. Cambridge Career Connections in partnership with both The Waterloo Region District School Board and The Catholic District School Board and Conestoga College offers this coordinated and supportive program. It includes connecting with youth entering the work force at the earliest point as they are leaving school, supporting them through the development of job related skills, locating a suitable and subsidized job placement and providing on-site job coaching until they are ready to do the job independently.
